Climbing the Mountains
One of my favorite recreational activities is backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. On my last trip, I recall thinking of how backpacking is similar to maintaining my proficiency in project management. To trek up and down the mountains of Georgia, one needs to stay in shape by using a treadmill, elliptical or backpacking other mountains.
To stay on shape for the project management proficiency mountains we encounter, we need to stay in shape with continuing education. We have several events happening right now and in the month of May to help you stay in top performing shape.
On April 30th and May1st, Brian Rabon of Braintrust Consulting will be holding a Certified Scrum Master course here in Nashville. If your company is jumping on board the Scrum bandwagon and you need training as a Scrum Master, take a look at this event.
On May 2nd and 3rd, Brian is also holding a Certified Scrum Product Owner course here as well. If you have been made the Product Owner in your organization and need training, this is the event for you!
Continuing in the Agile framework, we have an excellent Agile CoP event coming up on QA and testing in an Agile environment. Come on out to Brentwood Commons on 5/22/2012, join your Agile colleagues and gain some insight into the challenges of the subject matter.
Our May luncheon is being held on 5/15/2012 and we have an excellent speaker in store for you. Mark Cappellino will be talking about Breakthrough Conversations for Practical Outcomes. As project managers, we need to always be having conversations with our team members and stakeholders, so let's take an opportunity to gain some knowledge in the matter.
Coming off of a highly successful PMP Exam Prep workshop just a few months ago, PMI Nashville in partnership with Becker Professional Education will be holding yet another PMP Exam Prep workshop from June 4th through June 7th. If you are looking to earn your PMP certification and you need the 35 contacts hours, this is the course for you.
